In the relations of man with the animals, with the flowers, with the objects of Creation, there is a great ethic scarcely perceived as yet which will at length break forth into light. --Victor Hugo

Earth Ethics and Pranaam reach the Iron Lady of Manipur

In the wake of the recently famous anti-corruption activities and use of the Fast by Anna Hazare, many in the world are  still unaware of Irom Sharmila Chenu of Manipur, often called the Iron Lady by the media for her singular perseverance.  Since 2000, Irom Sharmila has been on an indefinite Fast in Manipur.  Her use of the Fast began shortly after a brutal massacre of innocent citizens by the armed forces in control of Manipur.  Irom took this drastic step with the blessings of her Mother, in response to her conscience and as a petition and prayer, to see the senseless violence in her country stopped, and the laws that allow it to continue, changed.  For over 11 years now, she has been arrested, force fed, re-arrested, as an attempted suicide case by the government.

Wisdom Cannot be used for Profit - Holy Mother Amma

Earlier this year in February 2011, Holy Mother Amma talked to us about our books.

While we talked, she said that we are the only ones here in Amritapuri that she has allowed to start a publishing business. She encouraged us to get our books into other mainstream bookstores in addition to Mata Amritanandamayi Math. She also said "Wisdom should be given; it cannot be made into a business." She re-iterated this on July 30th 2011 at Amritapuri, saying that our books hold spiritual knowledge, and cannot be used for profit-making ventures.
