This discussion augments Chapter 15 (Awareness of Heart, Humility, Duty and Sacrifice), Chapter 18 (The Practice of Silence and the Use of Vow), and Chapter 42 (Amritapuri),in Gandhi's Earth Ethics, with Teachings from Holy Mother Amma: an Introduction.
The purpose in writing this article is to share our own observations in striving towards the ideals of Truth and Love, and thereby reflect upon our understandings and areas of inevitable hypocrisy. We hope that this exercise will enable us to become aware of a broader vision of, and clearer adherence to, these ideals, and we hope that this exercise is useful to others.
While writing it, I realized I somehow needed to address the increasing voices I am hearing, which, if I listen to them, can weigh a little heavy on my heart. That is, about Amma and institutionalism.
I think what alot of people don't recognize or realize, is that we are facing extraordinary times. The planetary cleansing and transpiration systems are malfunctioning. Nature is out of balance, and soon, our food supply will be very seriously affected. Can't get fruits, when the trees all abnormally bloom three months ahead of schedule, and then the flowers die in frosts and blizzards....Nevermind the sickening pollution, sickening the Creation and our sickening thoughts.
The old paradigms of thinking, of expectation, can no longer work now, and Amma is quite aware of this. We have to make a consciousness leap, as a human race. Can we do it? I don't know. Definitely, we have to turn off the Television.
Anyhow, my views on this are in this article.
