“Pranaam” means “I bow to you.” This pocket-sized book is a selection of 108 Love-Poems written to the Divine Mother. They strum a universal chord in the human heart's yearning to know the Divine, giving an indication of the ideals and Love that Holy Mother Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi) both inspires contemplation of, and represents.
These poems were written between 1999-2002, by an American family living in Amma's Ashram in Amritapuri, Kerala, India.
K.A.L. stands for the family behind Wise Earth Publishers. 'K' for Kamala, 'A' for Amma and Anni (1988–2007), who is also the illustrator, and 'L' for Linkesh. In 2002, Amma advised the K.A.L. family to choose some of the poems and make a book of them. Amma herself chose the cover in August, 2009, which includes a photograph taken by Janjaap of the Netherlands in 2002 of Amma's nuns and Amritapuri residents at an ashram festival gathering.
These poems bring to the world new and powerful voices in the soul's cry to know itself, as well as ply a depth of deep human emotions as well as joys that are not often revealed in mundane life.
